COMMENTS FROM THE REUNION SURVEY
There have been a number of comments submitted with the reunion survey and I thought it would be worthwhile posting them for everyone to read. I will continue to post any new comments from additional replies. If you would like to make additional comments please use the Message Board.
My feeling is to keep it affordable and far enough apart to prevent them from becoming "old hat". Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Those that are interested can assemble together on their own.
I am flexible... I don't mind doing just a dinner/dance, a weekend event or a picnic....anyone is great... It's nice having regular get togethers as long as they are not too pricey:)
Advance notice is a great idea.
I so enjoyed the last reunion. It was wonderful to see people from other classes. The brunch was better than expected. Got to talk to former classmates over coffee and quiet. Let's do it again.
In short I like reunions and will gladly help contacting other classmates to spread the work.
For those of us who live a distance from New York, it would be helpful to know a specific date for a reunion a year or so in advance.
The last one was very nice.I have been keeping in touch with my year and arranging dinners with all of us.
I believe all these side bar reunions will eventually diminish the unique aspect of what we just experienced at the all class reunion. It's great to keep in touch, but too many of these events in too short a time frame will lead to overkill. Just ask Regis Philbin.
It's really hard to make some decisions, because it depends on what time of year and cost. Because a lot of us have to throw in air fare, car rental etc..
My feeling is "Why mess with success"? Our July, 2001 All School reunion was expertly planned and went off wothout a hitch. The only factor I would consider would be to extend the dinner dance two hours. It normally takes a while for people to loosen up and the first two hours fly by leaving a short amount of time before people start heading for the doors feeling they didn't have enough time with old friends. To many changes will only complicate things. June or July 2004 would be great. Plenty of time to plan and contact more people.
My wife and I enjoyed the last re-union and are looking forward for the next one. We were pleased to see my two other brothers at the same reunion. This truly was a reunion for us since I now live out of state.
Since none of us is getting any younger, 2 years for All School reunions make sense.
The price is fairly irrelevant for something so infrequent.
It would be good to see as many of our teachers as possible while they are still with us.
Dnner dance is great idea but too many people said that in any reunion situation they want to TALK to others, not be bombarded with loud music. We can get music anytime; we don't see each other that often. If we want loud music and a lot of dancing that should be in a separate area. At the reunion in July 01, at one point towards the end of the evening, almost the entire room was in the hall outside talking because that what we were there for, to socialize and get caught up. Next reunion, keep the noise to a minimum. We are not teenagers anymore and this is not a sock hop. We could have done with restaurant background music and been just as happy. These functions are primarily for talking and socializing. Make it easier to do that without having to leave the room. Many people had a better time at the brunch for just that reason.
Be nice to see some of you folks.
make it happen.....we are not getting any younger....every year would be fine for me....it was truly an experience last july....we must do it some more. thanks
I am happy to be registered at the Delehanty HS website. I hope that others from the class of 1964 will contact me. I would prefer any reunions that involve my 1964 Alumni and faculty. I have often wondered about my classmates from high school and this site has made it possible to contact them again.
I wouldn't mind if the next reunion was 5 years from the last( and I'll bet all the previous reunion planners think it will take another couple of years to put it together) but I think future reunions should gradually get closer together. Let's face it we're all getting on up there, LOL
I enjoyed the last reunion and thought the price was reasonable. I would hate to have the cost be too much for those that had to include air travel.
I went to my 10 year reunion, but, living in Florida since '78 I haven't given much thought to my high school days. But finding this website has changed that. I would look forward to any sort of reunion. I can only imagine how difficult is it to get everything in order.
I can't wait till the next one!!
