I don't remember hearing the tale Mr. Majer's green nose before you and Bill Austin brought it up. Quite a story!
I didn't remember the strength of Mr. Majer's voice either but that would fit in with his theatrical training. One memory which surfaces is that he told us he was in an acting class with Audrey Hepburn and he thought her stage presence was hopeless.
Mr. Majer was good to me. He had Miss McGoldrick make me editor of the 1963 yearbook and I was thrilled. However I soon learned that Miss McGoldrick did not really want an editor as she and her sister, Mrs. Griffin (no relation), did the entire yearbook each year themselves and their books annually won awards from Columbia University. They did the work and then gave me a 24k gold tie clip--which I still have.
